It’s another Off Grid Power Geek special, this time it’s an Eco Worthy Lithium Battery review.

We are the UK’s Lithium battery experts and we put the Eco Worthy range of Lithium batteries under the spotlight.

Check out what we found. We analyse the good, the bad, the ugly and let you know if they’re a good purchase or not.

Let’s get going, then!

Eco Worthy Lithium Battery Review (LiFePO4)

Introducing Eco Worthy Lithium Battery Review (LiFePO4)

There are 5 different sizes of Eco Worthy Lithium battery.

They are:

  • 30Ah
  • 50Ah
  • 100Ah
  • 150Ah
  • 280Ah

They each contain the same LiFePO4 cells, and BMS technology so they can be considered identical except that the bigger the battery the more LiFePO4 cells are inside.

30Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 30Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 3.75kg
  • Dimensions: 18.0L x 7.7W x 16.8H cm

50Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 50Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 6.07kg
  • Dimensions: 23.2L x 13.5W x 18.1H cm

100Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 100Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 10.7kg
  • Dimensions: 25.9L x 16.8W x 21.3H cm

150Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 150Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 18.6kg
  • Dimensions: 29.5L x 20.1W x 27.4H cm

280Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 280Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 29kg
  • Dimensions: 53.3L x 24.1W x 22.4H cm

What Are The Good Things?

High Quality BMS

The BMS for a Lithium battery is absolutely crucial. A good BMS is all the difference between a safe, long-lasting Lithium battery and a dangerous, ill-fated one.

What is a BMS? It’s a Battery Management System.

In the case of the Eco Worthy Lithium battery range, it’s good news. It’s a high quality BMS.

It has the ability to control the voltage of the LiFePO4 cells to make sure they don’t have too high a voltage, which can be a serious issue if it occurs.

It monitors the temperature and takes preventive action if it gets too hot, which entirely eliminates another possible safety issue.

You can add to that overload and short-circuit protection.

And you can add still further deep discharge protection. Which prevents damage to the battery if you allow it to become too discharged.

With lead acid batteries, including Gel and AGM batteries, too much discharge is effectively killing the battery. But with the Eco Worthy Lithium battery, you don’t need to worry about discharging it too much.

Long Lasting

Unlike some Lithium batteries, Eco Worthy have testing to back up their claims of long cycle life. So you’ll get as many as 3000 cycles at 100% discharge. That means 4000 cycles at 80% discharge. And 6000 cycles at 50% discharge.

Let’s compare that to a traditional lead-acid battery, still very commonly used.

A 100Ah lead acid battery will give you 300-500 life cycles. So the Lithium battery is giving you 7-10 times longer lifespan.

Actually, it’s even more than that. 3000 life cycles is for 100% discharge, but you’re very unlikely to always take it to 100% discharge. If you discharge to 60-80%, for example, you’re getting more like 4000-5000 cycles.

And then you’re looking at up to 15 times more cycles than lead acid or AGM batteries!

How long can you expect a leisure battery to last?

Lightweight

The 100Ah battery, for example, weighs just 10.4kg (22.9lb).

That’s less than a third of the weight of the equivalent lead acid/AGM battery.

That’s way easier for you to deal with every time you have to move it and when you install it, and lightens the weight of your vehicle considerably.

3 Year Warranty
W3 Year Warranty is pretty good. You definitely want that kind of peace of mind with an expensive purchase.

What are the bad things?

After Sales?

It’s a Chinese maker and seller. Some people will prefer dealing with a UK seller, or a seller local to whichever country they’re from.

That said, we know of buyers of this battery who’ve had it replaced when there was an issue.

If you feel it could be a concern, maybe the Ultramax Lithium battery is for you.

Anything else I should know?

The 150Ah Eco Worthy Lithium battery is listed on Amazon as weighing 42.55kg! Don’t worry, this is wrong. The real weight is 18.6kg.

There are a couple more smaller sizes of this brand of 12V Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries.

8Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 8Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 1kg
  • Dimensions: 15.2L x 6.5W x 9.6H cm

20Ah LiFePO4

  • Capacity: 20Ah
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Weight: 2.2kg
  • Dimensions: 22.1L x 11.4W x 11.7H cm

Summing Up The Eco Worthy Lithium Battery Review (LiFePO4)

The high-spec BMS and LiFePO4 make this a very safe and high performing Lithium battery.

The BMS functions not only help to keep the battery safe. They also make it last longer, and give you more power for longer. That’s one of the main reasons why you can genuinely realistically expect 10-15 years service life from this battery.
