Best 200Ah Lithium Battery UK (12V, LiFePO4)

At Off Grid Power Geek, we’ve watched the Lithium battery market with interest for a while now.

Why?

Because Lithium (LiFEPO4) batteries offer a ton more power, longevity and ability to handle deep discharge than Lead-acid batteries.

The new LiFePO4 batteries even solve the safety issues that plagued earlier incarnations of the Lithium battery. In fact, the evidence suggests they’re now even safer than Lead-acid batteries.

The problem was always just the price.

But since in the last year or so, price has come down a lot. So much so that it’s now significantly cheaper in the long run to buy a Lithium battery, even if the initial investment is more expensive.

So we’ve checked out and reviewed the best 200Ah Lithium batteries in the UK in 2024. Here’s what we found.

For those in a rush:

The No.1 battery was the DC House 200Ah battery (see price from DC House)

DC House 200Ah Lithium Battery 12V

This is the best LiFePO4 200Ah 12V battery on the UK market.

DC House Lithium Battery 200Ah

Here are our likes and dislikes in our testing.

What We Liked
  • The all-rounder, excelling in every category. In terms of being the latest long-lasting Lithium cells, manufacturer quality, quantity of expected life cycles, value, the DC House LiFePO4 battery is the one that really ticks all the boxes.
  • Value deserves to be discussed on its own, though. It’s second only to Renogy for manufacturer quality, but it’s not far off 300 quid cheaper.
  • Matches the top end of the market for its ability to handle cold and hot conditions. That is, as low as -20℃ and as high as 55℃.
  • The high power performance is exceptional; able to deliver 200A discharge current without faltering. That’s more than both Litime and Renogy.
  • It’s the lightest 200Ah battery on this list, at just 18kg. If you’re wondering why this battery can provide more power than competitors, at lower weight, it’s because the LiFePO4 is a rare type of technology that is improved on almost month by month. The Lithium cells used (by respected manufacturers like the ones on this list) in 2023 or 2024 are streets ahead of those used even as recently as 2021 or 2022.
What We Didn’t Like
  • It doesn’t match Litime’s stated 15,000 life cycles. But bear in mind that’s a speculative estimate! And different manufacturers have different methods to come up with their expected life cycle values).
  • No accompanying App. That’s the main feature we’d have liked this product to have.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 18.0kg (39.7lb)
  • Dimensions: 18.9 x 36.7 x 27.1cm (LxWxH)
  • Rated Capacity: 200Ah
  • Maximum Continuous Charging Current: 100A
  • Maximum Continuous Discharging Current: 200A
  • Nominal Voltage: 12.8V
  • Charging Temperature: 0℃ to +55℃
  • Discharging Temperature: -20℃ to +55℃
  • Life cycles: Up to 4,000

This is the top Lithium battery, 200Ah size, on the UK market. Its all-around quality meets the vast majority of needs.

Litime 200Ah Lithium Battery 12V

This is the No.2 UK ranked LiFePO4 200Ah 12V battery.

Here are our likes and dislikes in our testing.

What We Liked
  • Outstanding for sustained power delivery. In our tests we found it to have the best ability to power high-consuming devices for longer than any other LiFePO4 battery.
  • Up to 15k cycles, at least according to Litime. After seeing how good the power delivery is, over a long time, we reckon it’s possible. Bear in mind, one thing, though. That 15k cycles is to 60% DoD. If you look at cycles to 80%, as most makers use, the number of cycles for this battery is likely to be similar!
  • Less than 20kg in weight, 19.95kg to be precise. That’s more than 7kg less than the Renogy 200Ah Lithium battery, which is itself very light compared to any lead-acid battery of this size. That’s phenomenally light.
  • Water resistant to IP65 level. That’s impressive; it adds to the feeling we have that the Litime 200Ah LiFePO4 battery will have excellent longevity.
What We Didn’t Like
  • Unlike Renogy in No.3 spot, it doesn’t come with Bluetooth functionality.
  • Litime are a brand with good reputation for quality in the industry, but they can’t quite match Renogy’s reputation for manufacturing and quality expertise.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 19.95kg (44.0lb)
  • Dimensions: 53.2 x 20.7 x 21.5 cm (20.9 * 8.1 * 8.5inches)
  • Rated Capacity: 200Ah
  • Maximum Continuous Charging Current: 100A (for 1 hour)
  • Maximum Continuous Discharging Current: 100A (for 1 hour)
  • Peak Discharge Current: 280A (for 5s)
  • Nominal Voltage: 12.8V
  • Storage Temperature: -10℃ to +50℃
  • Charging Temperature: 0℃ to +50℃
  • Discharging Temperature: -20℃ to +60℃
  • Life cycles: Up to 15,000 (at 60% DoD)

Verdict: It performed really well, but can’t quite match DC House for quality/value ration. It can, however, match Renogy in almost all key aspects of quality of the materials and Lithium cells, and it’s cheaper. The key advantage is the superb sustained power delivery. If you need Bluetooth though, or you’re particularly keen on the Renogy brand, go for Renogy. This was a close one.

Here’s the best place to buy it, on Amazon.

Renogy 200Ah Lithium Battery 12V (w/ Bluetooth)

This is the third best 200Ah LiFePO4 battery in the UK.

Here are our likes and dislikes in our testing.

What We Liked
  • One of the best BMSs on the market. The performance and safety of a Lithium (LiFePO4) is significantly related to its BMS quality.
  • In our experience, Renogy’s BMS allows for the most flawless hookups and connections with solar panels and with other batteries (in parallel). That’s because of the BMS quality, particularly their cell balancing BMS function.
  • Renogy are a well-reputed manufacturer in the battery industry. Their production and materials quality are high calibre.
  • Renogy are really good for customer service and dealing with any issues with their batteries; advising solutions and refunding / replacing where necessary
  • Proven sales success and strong customer reviews show that this battery is reliable
  • This battery can handle both very low, and very high temperatures (outperforming the Eco Worthy battery in this regard).
  • Handles being around dust, dirt, water and other materials very well, since it has IP65 level protection. It’s waterproof, able to handle water jets from any direction.
  • Bluetooth connection is handy, and the App is surprisingly good in the sense of being easy to use. Makes it simple to keep track of the charging process.
What We Didn’t Like
  • You can’t connect several of these together in series. If that’s what you need a Lithium battery for, this one isn’t for you. You can connect up to 8 of them in parallel. The Eco-worthy 100Ah battery allows 4 to be connected in series.
  • Though it’s very lightweight compared to a lead-acid battery, the DC House battery is much lighter still.
  • You have to be close to the battery to check it using the App, normal Bluetooth range. Wifi connection would have been better, so you can check it from anywhere.
  • Price is still moderately good value, but DC House and Eco Worthy (x2) are quality options at much lower cost.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 27.3kg (60.2lb)
  • Dimensions: 52.2 x 24.0 x 21.9 cm (20.6 x 9.5 x 8.6 in)
  • Rated Capacity: 200Ah
  • Maximum Continuous Charging Current: 100A
  • Maximum Continuous Discharging Current: 100A
  • Nominal Voltage: 12.8V
  • Storage Temperature: -25℃ to +65℃
  • Life Cycles (at 80% DoD, 0.5C, 25℃): 2000 cycle
  • Self-discharge rate: 3% per month

Verdict: The most feature-packed and advanced LiFePO4 battery on the market. Very reliable and with excellent after-care by Renogy. It’s our No.2 only because the DC House 200Ah Lithium battery has many similar qualities (if less advanced features) at a lower price.

Eco-Worthy 100Ah Lithium Battery 12V x 2 (connected in parallel)

This is the fourth best LiFePO4 200Ah 12V battery option.

Eco Worthy Leisure Battery 12V 100Ah

Here are our likes and dislikes in our testing.

What We Liked
  • Modern and high-quality BMS both delivers the power as advertised and has all the required safety functions you need (like short circuit protection, over-charge and over-discharge.)
  • Simply huge Peak instantaneous current of 550A is the best on the markey.
  • Handles high discharge very well, even 90% discharge does not damage the battery. And maintains a high voltage until charge is very low (unlike Lead-acid batteries that drop sharply in voltage).
  • You can connect 4 in parallel, and 4 in series; that’s unlike Renogy, which do not allow for any connection in series.
  • We’ve spoken a few times on this site about Eco-Worthy Lithium batteries offering the best value in the market – high quality at a much lower price than Renogy.
What We Didn’t Like
  • Reputation for after-care and service is not as strong as Renogy
  • Not fully waterproof like the Litime or Renogy 200Ah batteries, which have IP65 protection.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 10.5kg (23.2lb) each
  • Dimensions: 26.0 x 16.8 x 20.9 cm each
  • Rated Capacity: 100Ah
  • Recommended Charging Current: 50A
  • Peak Discharge Current: 100A (continuous)
  • Peak Discharge Current: 550A (instantaneous)
  • Nominal Voltage: 12.8V
  • Storage Temperature: -20℃ to +25℃ recommended
  • Charging Overheat Protection: 45-55℃
  • Discharging Overheat Protection: 70-80℃
  • Life cycles: 3000-5000

Verdict: Why is it our No.4? Because it’s an alternative on this list of the best 200Ah batteries. Both the Litime 200Ah Lithium battery and the Renogy 200Ah battery have several superior aspects (like great sustained power delivery, Bluetooth {Renogy only} and being more waterproof).

But if you don’t need those, then a couple of these Eco-Worthy battery are similarly high performing and reliable.

Most crucially, it’s got a similarly high-quality BMS, and buying these two works out quite a bit cheaper than the Litime and Renogy batteries. Unlike the others, with this option you need to connect the two batteries, in parallel.

Here’s the best place to buy it, from Eco Worthy directly.

Why get a Lithium battery?

Let’s take an example.

Let’s compare a 200Ah Lithium battery with THREE Lead-acid 100Ah batteries.

Unfair fight, right? 300Ah of Lead-acid batteries against only 200Ah Lithium battery.

Well yes, but not in the way you might think…

BatteryUsable CapacityWeightCostLifespan
200Ah Lithium (LiFePO4) Battery180-190Ah22-25kgAround £650-100010-15 years
3 x 100Ah Lead-acid batteries150Ah80-90kgAround £400-8003-5 years

Let’s discuss the results of this table.

Usable Capacity

As you may have noticed, the total listed capacity of the lead-acid batteries is 300Ah.

However, it’s advised to only discharge lead-acid batteries to 50%, meaning the usable capacity is only 150Ah.

Even if you discharged the 3 lead-acid batteries to 70%, the maximum usable capacity would be 210Ah. That’s just slightly more than can be provided by the 200Ah Lithium battery alone.

And regularly discharging to 70% DoD harms lead-acid batteries, and they may only last 2 or 3 years.

Cost and Lifespan

As you can see, it’s still a larger initial investment to get the Lithium battery (though they’re now not that much more than AGM batteries). But Lithium batteries are incredibly long-lasting and with far superior cyclic durability than Lead-acid batteries.

What does that mean?

Well, in the time that the Lithium battery lasts, you’d probably have had to replace each Lead-acid battery 3 or 4 times. Which means the lead-acid battery purchase is costing a lot more.

Superior cyclic durability, meanwhile means that the Lithium battery will stay stronger, giving more power for longer. They don’t fade in the way that Lead-acid batteries do.

Won’t it be nice to relax, knowing your Lithium battery is likely to last a decade? (or even a decade and a half?!)

Weight

The weight saving of a Lithium battery compared to a Lead-acid battery is simply enormous.

Even though the Lithium battery delivers fully 30Ah more usable capacity than the Lead-acid battery bank, it weighs fully 60-70kg less!

If the Lithium battery is for your motorhome, campervan, or caravan, that large a weight saving can, over time, save money on petrol.

Are Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries safe?

Yes. In 2022, we can say that LiFePO4 batteries are very safe unequivocally.

That’s due to the advent of LiFePO4, a special type of Lithium that is used by all modern Lithium batteries.

As well as, and most importantly, the sophisticated BMSs.

What is a BMS?

A BMS is a Battery Management System.

It provides:

  • over charge protection
  • over temperature protection
  • over-discharge protection
  • over current protection

They offer protection from pretty much every possible thing that can go wrong with a battery.

This type of electronic circuit provides a level of safety that is beyond what Lead-acid batteries can provide.
